Obama’s Katrina

By mike flugennockTuesday - November 19th, 2013Categories: Health Care, Obamarama, Party Animals, media

The recent implosion of and the millions of people losing their health insurance despite Obama’s promise (and we know what that’s worth) have created a “perfect storm” of FAIL which is leading many to refer to Obamacare — uh, sorry, the Affordable Care Act — as “Obama’s Katrina”.

In the meantime Obamacare architect Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of Chicago mayor and Obama flunkie Rahm Emanuel, is telling anybody who’ll listen that this pain parade is somehow the fault of Fox News. I’ll grant you, Fox News is a veritable media cesspool responsible for pimping all manner of slimy skankiness, but anyone paying the remotest attention over the past month will tell you that Fox News didn’t have anything to do with this FAIL festival.

While that business is going on, House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi is all over MSDNC… uh, MSNBC… swearing up and down that Democrats are totally in line behind Obamacare. Yeah, sure, Nancy, just keep telling yourself that. Perhaps in some weirded-out dreamscape of yours, Democrats are in lockstep behind Obama’s corporate healthcare sweetheart deal, but out here in objective reality, buttloads of Democrats are running from Obamacare like it was a house on fire.

I can’t pretend I’m not enjoying this.

(And btw, I’m sure many of you are wondering what a hardcore Leftie like myself is doing citing articles at conservative news sites. Well, I’ll tell you… it’s a goddamn’ shame that I have to read the Washington Times and Newsbusters to get even half a clear idea of what the hell’s going on, because MSNBC is full of nothing but pimping and shucking these days. Think of it this way: I’m reading that crap so you don’t have to.)

A Year After Katrina…

By mike flugennockFriday - September 1st, 2006Categories: Bushit, Party Animals, elections, media

Ahh, it’s “election” season once again! This one slammed head-on into my brain after reading little bits of Dubya’s speech on the Katrina anniversary, after seeing the montage of drowning victims in Spike Lee’s documentary, and after reading in various news reports that a year after the hurricane, corpses were still being found.

169,000 New Jobs!

By mike flugennockWednesday - October 19th, 2005Categories: Bushit, Economy, media

Almost as if on cue, USA Today, in its classic “everything’s OK, don’t worry, be happy, nothing to see here” fashion, ran a big-ass front-page story this week trumpeting in its headline that the economy was “surging”. Now, if you know anything at all about USA Today — or, as some of us wags call it, USA Hooray — when you see them using words like “surging” in a headline on an economic news story, you can be sure it’s 99 & 44/100% pure bullshit.

But, anyway, assuming you believe USA Today, the economy’s surging again! And, if you checked out the actual breakdown yourself at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, you’d see that a pretty good chunk of them are rock-bottom-wage “service” jobs, not including the handful of “freelance” categories you see here — including a newly-emerging job category showing a huge upswing at the end of the month, shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and the Gulf Coasts of Mississippi and Alabama.

Katrina Marches on Washington

By mike flugennockFriday - September 9th, 2005Categories: Bushit, Economy

katrinamarchesondc550wAs public outrage over the Bush Regime’s handling of the humanitarian disaster in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina began to grow and spread, I thought it might be a good idea to create a second poster for the upcoming national antiwar mobe based on this theme, to tap into that sentiment and spur more intense involvement in the demonstrations.

At last, here was one that President Chimp and his lapdog Congress and media couldn’t spin their way out of. “I didn’t expect the levees to break”, easily one of the most incredible whopping lame-assed “dog ate my homework” excuses ever, was a comment I couldn’t help laughing at in spite of everything because it was just too damn’ much like watching Saturday Night Live.

So, to help juice up peoples’ attitude at the upcoming events in DC, a little something in solidarity with the dispossessed in Fallujah, Iraq, and her sister city, New Orleans.
