But for ruling classes confronting mounting opposition, militarism provides a framework to demand &#8220;national unity,&#8221; impose immense sacrifices and strengthen the coercive powers of the state&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #808080;\"><em>\u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2026\/10\/08\/zvgq-o08.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement of the Parti de l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 socialiste<\/a><\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #808080;\"><em>published at the WSWS 10.08.2026<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>I can&#8217;t pretend I&#8217;m not enjoying this.<\/strong> No, really, I&#8217;ll be totally honest with y&#8217;all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2026\/10\/16\/tzmm-o16.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What needs to happen<\/a> is finally happening in France and is spreading all across Europe. I&#8217;m getting to see it happen in near-real time, and it&#8217;s exhilarating. The working class is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2026\/10\/18\/jcay-o18.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">catching fire<\/a> and rising up, and the ruling class is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2026\/10\/21\/gdki-o21.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shitting bricks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">It&#8217;s the only way to civil and economic justice, and the only way to prevent world war.
